Where the Alps meet the Mediterranean and the Pannonian Plain meets the Karst, there is Slovenia. This small green country extends in the area of 20,273 km2 and is located in southern Central Europe with mainly continental climate with the exception of sub-Mediterranean climate in the south-west and alpine climate in the north-west. It is the country with an exceptional number of top athletes and a rich cultural legacy. In Slovenia, it is not difficult to compare the value of goods and services, as they are priced in one of the most important world currencies – in euros (€).
Just one hour and a half drive away from the capital Ljubljana a beautiful view awaits us. We suddenly start to feel the warm submediterranean climate that is unique to this part of Slovenia, as we drive closer and closer to our destination - The Slovenian coast
which is full with small historical/touristic towns that are just a few kilometers away from one another. The result is a coastline dotted with half a dozen notable towns, each with its own unique character. While the small Mediterranean towns of Piran and Izola entice with their medieval town cores, Portorož invites with its holiday attractions.
The poetically named Portorož or Port of Roses is the undisputed king of Slovenia's coastal tourism trade. Although it lacks the Venetian old towns that can be found elsewhere along the coast, its numerous hotels, restaurants, conference centers, spas and casinos make it a popular destination for both foreigners and Slovenes.
Besides all this, Portorož is characterized by the short distances between all the venues, which will allow participants to reach most of the activities, social and cultural sites on foot or by short driving distance.
